Manchester United attempted to lure Brighton midfielder Julio Enciso to the club, which he duly turned down, according to reports from Paraguay have said that
The 21-year-old has played 23 times for his country but has failed to secure a starting spot at the Seagulls - starting just two games in the Premier League this season - since recovering from a six-month lay-off due to a knee injury.
He has since joined Ipswich Town on loan.
Paraguayan media outlet Versus stated that Man United wanted to sign the youngster on loan as a replacement for Alejandro Garnacho, with the club currently in talks with Napoli over signing the €65 million rated Argentinian, while Chelsea are also interested.
Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim was asked about the Garnacho situation.
He said: "Guys, I understand the question, but let's focus on the game, I don't want to talk about that, especially before a game.
"Our focus is on the players that are here to play, we need to improve and win games to have that feeling of winning, so let's focus on that today."
However, Enciso has now secured a loan move to Ipswich until the end of the season, where he will see a lot more game time and play a crucial role in their relegation battle.
Following his move, Enciso said: “I am so happy to be here.
“The conversations with the Manager have been good. I am very grateful to him and the Club for believing in me. I can’t wait to get going.
“I’m a real fighter and I will do my best in every game.”
