Liverpool supporter’s birthday picture with Jurgen Klopp and players results in godawful photograph

They had a shocker here

Headless.

No, that’s not a succinct evaluation of Loris Karius’ most recent performance between the sticks for Liverpool.

It’s a description of one of the worst photographs you’re ever going to feast your eyes on as one Reds supporter rushed when granted the chance to take a photograph with manager Jurgen Klopp and members of the squad prior to Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham.

On his way to Anfield to watch the Premier League game, Mike Deane – not to be confused with Mike Dean – spotted Klopp and immediately recognised the perfect opportunity to celebrate his wife’s birthday.

Amy Deane asked Klopp for a photo to mark her special day and, class act that he is, the German obliged and got some of his players involved.

It was a great idea but… the execution… not so much.

In all the excitement, the photograph failed to capture an important element – heads.

“We couldn’t have thought in a million years the picture would turn out the way it did – it’s the greatest photo that never was,” Mike told the Liverpool Echo.

“It would have been perfect with the entire squad and the Anglican Cathedral in the background.

“Initially I was quite upset but we can see the funny side of it now.”

Luckily, the birthday girl was able to catch up with Klopp and nab a selfie with ‘The Normal One’ which softened the blow of missing out on a picture with the players too.

And she was also treated to a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ by Klopp so she can’t really complain about the picture as she has a memory that will last a lifetime.

“We will definitely look back on it and laugh, you just couldn’t make it up,” Mike added.

Diarmuid Connolly makes his long overdue GAA Hour debut and talks to Colm Parkinson about everything from the black card to his rivalry with Lee Keegan and how he honed the ability to kick accurately with either foot.
