Liverpool CEO Peter Moore has urged fans of the club to treat the city of Barcelona with “the respect it deserves”, ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash.

It comes after two videos have emerged of Liverpool fans appearing to push a bystander into a fountain.

“We proudly sing that we’ve conquered all of Europe,” said CEO Moore on Twitter. “But let’s treat this beautiful city with the respect that it deserves, and act in a manner that is befitting of LFC. By all means, have a good time, but we are Liverpool, and as such, let’s visit here with grace and humility.”

Merseyside Police confirmed to the BBC they are aware of the videos.

One video shows a fan approaching a man from behind and flipping him into the fountain from his legs.

Another is shot from a longer distance, appears to show a man standing on the rim of the fountain being pushed into the water.

On Tuesday evening, police cordoned off Plaça Reial as travelling fans began chanting and marched through the square.

Liverpool play Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie tonight.
