Limerick kid runs into Liverpool star in a shop, Liverpool star buys him football boots

This is pure class

What’s that old saying? You should never meet your heroes… unless they’re sound b*st*rds.

Georginio Wijnaldum is sound. Listen, he might have a name that you can’t spell without the use of Google, but he’s sound.

Georginio Wijnaldum – remember that because there’ll be a quiz on it later.

An 11-year-old Limerick kid wandered into a shop in Liverpool on Monday after visiting Anfield for the last game of the season and, as most kids do, he rushed to the dearest thing he could find in that sports store.

Paddy Mackessy held aloft a pair of 300 quid football boots and probably got the same stare every Irish mammy offers to their child when they try the same trick.

He was soon told to hurry up, they were leaving the store and heading off.

As they did though, the shop assistant called the mother and son back from the street because Liverpool’s Dutch central midfielder had just forked out £300 to pay for the boots for the Irish boy.

In a brief encounter before they left the shop, W**nald*m (we told you, there’s a quiz coming) spoke with young Paddy about the boots.

“Do you like those boots?’ Yes, of course you do… and what size are you?”

Thinking nothing of the words, the star-struck Treaty native left with his mum Louise only to find that the boots were bought and paid for and they got a nice picture with the hero of the day too.

Now, tell us… can you spell that hero’s name?
