First Manchester City with Ikay Gundogan and now this.
Proving your solidarity with teammates with outrageous visual displays seems to be the latest trend sweeping the Premier League.
Last week Manchester City players showed their support for teammate İlkay Gündoğan who had suffered a season-ending knee injury, by wearing shirts displaying his name and squad number before kick-off, in their recent match against Arsenal.
This sort of display is usually reserved for incidents involving the death of someone close to the club or something similar, not a player suffering an injury.
Don’t get us wrong, it’s refreshing to see the modern day player showing support for their colleague but many believed that this display was a little bit over the top.

Today we have seen the latest example of overblown support as Premier League champions, Leicester City, have handed out 30,000 Jamie Vardy masks for today’s game against Everton.
The club feels aggrieved that their appeal against Vardy’s red card which he received against Stoke City has been rejected.
As a result, Vardy has to serve a three-match suspension during the crucial festive period.
Leicester who are three points above the relegation zone and have only won four games so far this season, should be concentrating on defeating Everton today, rather than engaging in an elaborate ‘protest’.
With FA chairman Greg Dyke expected to attend today’s fixture at the King Power Stadium, it will be interesting to see what his reaction will be like when he is surrounded by 30,000 fans in Vardy masks.
