Lee Carlsey is set to be appointed as the new Republic of Ireland manager, according to reports.
Carsley, who is currently working as England’s Under-21 manager, will reportedly be appointed within the next seven days as Stephen Kenny’s successor.
The former Everton midfielder earned 40 caps for Ireland during his playing career.

According to The Irish Sun, reporting on Thursday morning, Carsley will be named as the new Ireland manager within the next week.
The 49-year-old is the FAI’s preferred candidate to take the role.
Jonathan Hill, the FAI’s CEO, and Packie Bonner, the association’s technical director, are set to have talks with Carsley in London this week.
They will then recommend him to the FAI board to become the next manager of the men’s national team.

Birmingham native Carsley played 40 times for Ireland between 1997 and 2008. He was part of the World Cup squad in 2002.
Carsley played for Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Coventry City, Everton, and Birmingham City before going into coaching.
He has worked as England Under-21 manager since 2021 and helped them win the European Championships last summer.
Before working for the English FA, Carsley worked as a coach with several clubs, including Manchester City’s underage teams, Brentford, and Birmingham.
The Ireland role will be his first as a senior manager, although he has had stints as a caretaker boss with Birmingham and Brentford

Carsley looks set to beat other contenders for the Ireland job, such as Neil Lennon and Chris Hughton, while Roy Keane has suggested he would be interested in the role.
The former midfielder will have a difficult task with the Boys in Green.
Ireland are currently ranked 60th in the world after missing out on qualification for the 2018 World Cup, Euro 2020, the 2022 World Cup and this summer’s European Championships.
Carsley’s long-term remit will be to ensure the Boys in Green qualify for Euro 2028, which will be co-hosted by Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
