Cabinteely F.C. are doing their utmost to try to get their players to reach their full potential academically.

SSE Airtricity First Division club have introduced a new initiative that will see their U19 squad receive free Leaving Certificate grinds.

Cabinteely have teamed up with the Dublin School of Grinds for the programme which aims to strike a balance between football and study in order to give their young players the best chance when it comes to exams.

The team’s training schedule will be changed to allow time for players to attend grinds. Under the new development programme players will attend grinds twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, train on Tuesdays and Thursdays and play matches on Saturdays.

The club said on its official website that “this study/training/play balance will give young players the opportunity to achieve their true potential, not only on the pitch, but also help them to achieve their academic goals.”
