Kylian Mbappe hints he may leave PSG after accepting Ligue 1 award

PSG forward Kylian Mbappe has hinted that he could leave the French champions after accepting Ligue 1’s Player of the Year award on Sunday night.

Mbappe has scored 32 goals in 28 games for the Parisian club this year but has been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid amid the Galacticos rebuild and he called for greater responsibility at PSG after collecting French football’s highest individual honour.

“It’s a very important moment for me, I come to a turning point in my career,” Mbappe said.

“I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is maybe the moment to have more responsibility.

“I hope that can perhaps be at Paris Saint-Germain, that would be a great pleasure. Or maybe elsewhere with a new project.”

His comments represent a dramatic u-turn from his position last month where he indicated that his future would remain in Paris.

“I’m staying at PSG. I’m fully involved in PSG’s project,” he said. “I’m happy for Real Madrid that [Zinedine Zidane] has come back. I’ll watch their games as an admirer.”
