Key FIFA sponsor calls for Sepp Blatter to step down immediately

Wow

They say money talks, so this could be the end of the road for Fifa president Sepp Blatter.

The overlord of football’s governing body has clung on for dear life as scandal after scandal has beset the organisation.

But after everything it could be pressure from Fifa’s key sponsors that brings Blatter down.

Coca Cola and McDonald’s called for the 79-year-old to step down immediately following the latest scandal over alleged bribes and kick-backs, according to Bloomberg Business.

The beverage giant said Blatter’s departure would allow a “credible and sustainable reform process” to begin.

“Every day that passes, the image and reputation of FIFA continues to tarnish,” Coca-Cola said in an e-mailed statement.

“FIFA needs comprehensive and urgent reform, and that can only be accomplished through a truly independent approach.”

Coca Cola is pushing for FIFA to adopt an independent commission to reform the organization and “win back the trust of all who love the sport.”

Good luck.
