Juventus planning to pinch one of hottest prospects in Manchester for bargain price

Reuben Pinder

Juventus absolutely love a bargain.

Juventus are lining up an approach to sign Manchester City starlet Phil Foden next summer, according to The Mirror.

The Italian champions are hoping to take advantage of Foden’s contract situation, which runs out in the summer of 2020.

Due to his age, Juventus would have to pay a compensation fee for the player, in the region of £175,000, as they did for Paul Pogba when they signed him from Manchester United in 2012.

The Mirror report that Juventus will pounce if contract talks, which are expected to begin soon, are not concluded.

Manchester City are beginning to face the issue to keeping hold of their academy products, having already lost Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund.

Foden may see his future away from Manchester City if he is not given the necessary game time to aid his development as he matures, but the 18-year-old has over a year before he will have to make such a decision.

Another Manchester City product who could leave in search of first team minutes is Brahim Diaz, who has only featured in small bursts under Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, meaning that if Guardiola wants to show the club’s owners that their investment in youth has not been in vain, Foden is his best chance of doing so.
