Jurgen Klopp has turned down the chance to manager the USMNT/
The United States were plotting an ambitious move to appoint Klopp as their next manager after Gregg Berhalter's departure.
Berhalter left his role after the USA's Copa America exit at the group stage, bringing an end to his second stint in charge.
Klopp is currently enjoying some much-needed downtime after bringing his nine-year affiliation with Liverpool to an end.
He suggested the possibility of taking a sabbatical when he first confirmed his Anfield departure having been "running out of energy".
A move into international football may suit the German though given the less hectic fixture schedule and more time to take out and spend with family.
Shortly after revealing Berhlater would be leaving his position as manager of the USMNT for a second time, they released a statement thanking him for his work.
US Soccer President Cindy Barlow said: "I want to thank Gregg for his hard work and dedication to US Soccer and our men’s national team.
"We are now focused on working with our sporting director Matt Crocker and leveraging his experience at the highest levels of the sport to ensure we find the right person to lead the USMNT into a new era of on-field success."
