Jurgen Klopp to raid former side Mainz for Simon Mignolet replacement

Jurgen Klopp is almost the end of his first three-quarters season with Liverpool and faces a busy summer ahead. The German is likely to revamp his squad significantly as the club look to make the most of a summer transfer window filled with optimism. Every area of the squad is likely to be strengthened, but one key area of concern remains in the form of Simon Mignolet. Danny Ward is unlikely to be trusted as the Belgian's long-term replacement yet, so Klopp instead is looking to his former club for backup to the current number one. Mignolet signed a new five-year-deal at Liverpool in early 2016, and while Reds fans may wish to see him leave, it is understood Klopp feels the Belgian does not have enough competition to keep him sharp, something he is hoping to resolve with Karius' signing. The 22-year-old may develop into Mignolet's long term repalcement, with Klopp hoping to roate his 'keepers next season if the club qualify for the Champions League as hoped.
