Jurgen Klopp became a near instant hit with Liverpool fans when he arrived at Anfield and fully embraced the local culture.
His “heavy metal” brand of football isn’t yet flawless by a long shot, with the Merseysiders still shipping far too many goals, and while the German took his new club to two cup finals in the previous campaign, neither of them resulted in a trophy.
But when the football is good, it’s often electrifying, and fans have seen more than a few glimpses of what a Klopp side is capable of when it’s firing on all cylinders.

But as important as all that tactical chat is, what makes Jurgen Klopp so easy to like is his touchline passion. You’d be hard pressed to find a set of football supporters that don’t enjoy seeing a bit of emotion from their manager, and each time Klopp loses his glasses when celebrating a goal – which, by the way, is seemingly every time he celebrates a goal, the Kop warms to him that bit more.
It’s no surprise then, that his animated pitchside nature was a topic of conversation Gary Linker was keen to explore when he sat down with the 49-year-old in the first edition of The Premier League Show.
Klopp was asked to explain why he gets so excited, to which he couldn’t really offer a concrete answer. Emotions are not easy to rationalise, after all. But he did admit that if he saw someone else celebrating in the same way he’d think they were ‘crazy’.
