Interesting stuff from the Liverpool manager.
Jurgen Klopp won’t be relaxing in the off season because it’s clear what he wants from his players during their eight pre-season friendlies in July and early August.
Last season was an impressive one at Anfield as the club finished in the Premier League’s top four during Klopp’s first full season in charge.
Aside from an improvement in their league position, Liverpool also boasted an unbeaten record against the rest of the Premier League’s top six.

This being said, the 42 goals they conceded were the most by any team in the top four and a poor January undid a lot of their brilliant pre-Christmas form.
Now that the ‘Pool are back in the Champions League, it’s obvious that they’ll be adding to their squad – Salah has already arrived and RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita remains a target – but Klopp is demanding even more from his players.
Speaking with the club’s official website, the German said that he expects his players to become more tactically astute “Tactically-wise, getting more flexible – depending who is there and when – and introducing different systems. [In 2015-16], we played most of the time kind of 4-2-3-1, [in 2016-17] most of the time 4-3-3 or 4-5-1. In our opinion, it fitted best to the players we had,” said Klopp.
He also mentioned that the club are far from being done in the transfer window: “I’m not sure which way we have to play next year, there will be a few different ones. And we’ll prepare for European football also, so we need a bigger squad of course. We’ll be good. I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
