Jurgen Klopp meets with agent of Switzerland midfielder ahead of possible €30m move

A raid on the Bundesliga?

If you’re playing Scrabble and fancy a really good 30 letter word score, then Liverpool’s interest in a new midfielder could be right up your street.

Reports in Germany suggest that Jurgen Klopp is looking to raid the Bundesliga for Liverpool’s second purchase of the January transfer window.

The Reds may have overcome Stoke in last night’s League Cup semi-final, but the lack of dynamism in the centre of the park was emphasised by the impact Joe Allen made coming off the bench.

And now it seems as if Liverpool are ready to firm up their interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka this month.

Klopp met with the Switzerland international’s agent last month, but according to SportsBild any possible deal for the aggressive midfielder would likely cost Liverpool in excess of €30 million.

Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal to sign Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee in the region of €50m so whether there’s another €30m in the coffers this January remains to be seen.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, even going as far as to comment on what shirt number he’d like to wear at the Emirates.
