Jose Mourinho eyeing up promising Republic of Ireland U17 striker as Ibra replacement

Would be a big move for him.

Jose Mourinho is interested in Republic of Ireland U17 striker Adam Idah, according to reports.

Idah, currently at Norwich City, has seen his stock rise dramatically in recent months after a string of impressive performance for both club and country.

The Cork-born striker has been a pivotal member of Colin O’Brien’s U17s, scoring eight goals to help his country qualify for the this summer’s UEFA European Under-17 Championship in England. His latest strike came in Friday’s 3-0 win over Macedonia.

Mourinho is said to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker’s contract was terminated by United last week before joining MLS side LA Galaxy and Calciomercato believe Idah has been identified as his possible replacement.

Idah has been in fine form for the Norwich youth team this season, too, including a sensational 10-minute hat-trick against Barnsley in the FA Youth Cup.

Although Mourinho is expected to spend heavily on established stars this summer as he aims to challenge Manchester City’s supremacy, it would be exciting to see him show faith in a promising young Irish starlet who has impressed at Norwich after moving from College Corinthians.
