Recent Republic of Ireland call-up has been shortlisted for the Player of the Year award in Scotland

Quite the few weeks

Darragh Murphy

11 March, 2016 – Jonny Hayes receives first Ireland call-up. 25 March, 2016 – Jonny Hayes makes international debut. 27 April, 2016 – Jonny Hayes is up for the PFA Scotland Premiership Player of the Year award.

That’s a hell of a six weeks for the 28-year-old Dubliner.

The Aberdeen winger has played a crucial role in bringing table-topping Celtic the distance this season, with the Dons their closest challengers in the Scottish Premiership title race.

Hayes has scored five times in 40 appearances for Aberdeen this season and his displays have seen him shortlisted for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.

Hayes, who came off the bench to make his debut for the Republic of Ireland in their 1-0 friendly victory over Switzerland last month, has some stiff competition for the gong though.

He’s up against freescoring Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths and the pair of Dundee forwards Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings for the award.
