James Milner has brilliant response after Liverpool launch new home kit without him

James Dawson

There’s no arguing with James Milner’s Twitter game.

Liverpool launched their home kit for the 2019/20 season on Thursday morning with a glossy video posted across their social media channels.

The home kit pays homage to the club’s most successful manager Bob Paisley in the year of the 100th anniversary of his birth, with each jersey inscribed with his signature on the inside of the neck.

As you might imagine, the launch video features some of the club’s biggest players: Salah, Firmino, Mane and the rest.

Watch it here.

Speaking of the kit, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said:

“This year’s home kit is incredibly strong.

“I’m really looking forward to wearing it every time we play at our beloved home of Anfield, as a symbol of the pride and passion you have when you’re a Red.

“It’s also a really fitting tribute to one of our greatest managers, Bob Paisley, and is a fantastic way to remember all his success.”

However, while Hendo features in the clip, you might have noticed that there was a notable midfielder missing from the video for the announcement of the kit: James Milner.

And the Leeds-born player responded to the announcement on Twitter, writing: “When you see your mates are out, but no-one gave you a call #YeahImThatGuy.”

The 33-year-old has one of the best Twitter feeds in football. When he first joined the site he took the opportunity to take the piss out of his ‘boring’ image and his continued the memes ever since.

While it might seem like it’s just a joke, with his home-town club Leeds United looking likely to be promoted to the Premier League this season under Marcelo Bielsa, his exclusion from the video led to a number of fans letting him know he’d be welcome back in Yorkshire should he want a return:
