Irish legends and journalists’ pre-season Premier League predictions were as wrong as you’d think

Some big shouts

Conan Doherty

From Leicester finishing bottom, to Chelsea not only making the top four but actually winning the league, there were all sorts of crazy predictions in the newspapers before the season started.

Alright, most of us probably thought the same but it’s quite sobering to actually have these things in print and see just how wrong we usually are.

The Sunday editions put their necks on the line a week out from the 2015/16 Premier League back in August and, in hindsight, it’s fascinating.

Almost everyone had Chelsea winning the league, almost every had a Nigel Pearson-less Leicester for the drop. No-one even mentioned Aston Villa.

Hindsight is beautiful.
