Inter Milan to offer United player swap deal for Romelu Lukaku

Jack O'Toole

Inter Milan have reportedly offered Croatian winger Ivan Perisic plus cash considerations for Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku became somewhat of a peripheral figure under new United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the second-half of this season with the Belgian international starting just 22 games (15 under Solskjaer) in the last campaign, compared to 33 games last season and 36 games in his final season with Everton.

Inter Milan are understood to be keen on Lukaku with beIN Sports correspondent Tancredi Palmeri reporting that United received a bid for Lukaku of €30m plus Perisic, who scored eights goals in 33 league games for Inter this term.

Lukaku signed from Everton two years ago for £75m but he did admit that he was open to a move to the Serie A last month and said that he hopes to play in Italy at some point in his career.

‘Playing in Serie A is a dream, it would be really a dream,’ Lukaku told Sky Italia. ‘I hope to be able to play sooner or later, even if at the moment I am focused on the United.’

Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello also seemed to be open to a move abroad for the 26-year-old and added that he envisions playing for numerous clubs during his professional career.

‘He’s someone who loves to know a different culture, a different football,” Pastorello told Sky Sports earlier this month.

‘He sees a way to have a career playing in different countries because he would like to win some trophies and prove himself and say to his children ‘I won there and I won there and I won there’ and ‘I was a very good player in all the top championships’ so let’s see.

‘The future is really very open but, at the moment, we don’t discuss about that because really the season is in a big moment. ‘He likes Italy. When he was a child he followed a lot the Italian league.’
