You’ve probably never heard of Chimy Avila. I hadn’t until tonight. But you’re going to be hearing his name a lot more in the coming months, as we reflect on the best goals of the season.
The attacking midfielder is currently on loan from Argentine club San Lorenzo at relegation battlers Huesca in LaLiga. On Tuesday night, he made a huge impact for Huesca as they fight tooth and nail for survival, with a sublime volley worthy of winning the Puskas Award.
As a corner came floating over to him, Avila adjusted his body shape and connected with the ball as sweetly as he could, firing it straight into the top left corner. It’s the sort of goal we all dream of scoring. It’s a goal that could help Huesca achieve their dreams of top flight survival.
