Hector Bellerín will donate £50 for every minute he plays at the U21 Euros to the Grenfell Tower victims

A wonderful gesture.

He’s set to donate thousands of pounds, and is encouraging others to help out as well.

The horrific fire at the Grenfell Tower in West London has seen an outpouring of people wanting to help and donate to the victims of the tragedy.

The football world has also stepped up to help out. Nearby QPR and Fulham both collected donations and offered support to those affected, and Ryan Bertrand and Raheem Sterling have made donations.

Now Arsenal’s Hector Bellerín is the latest player to help out. The Spanish defender has tweeted saying that he will donate £50 for every minute he plays at the Under 21s European Championships to the Grenfell Tower victims.

And while there are a few snide comments about him trying to get more game time at the tournament, it’s a very good gesture from Bellerín – if Spain reach the final and he plays every game, the total would be £22,500. He also urged others to support to the cause, including a link to donate in his tweet.

While born in Barcelona, Bellerín moved to Arsenal when he was 16, and has very much become an honorary Londoner.
