He just can’t stop scoring.
Helpless Southampton felt the full force of Harry Kane’s scintillating form as St Stephen’s Day as Tottenham handed the Saints a 5-2 festive thumping at Wembley Stadium.
Kane, in particular, picked up exactly where he left off before he tucked into his Christmas dinner, scoring his second hat-trick in four days to blow Mauricio Pellegrino’s team away.
It was the England striker’s second treble in a week, but it was also his eighth of a year. That tally means he has scored more hat-tricks in 2017 than Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Sergio Aguero and Edinson Cavani combined.
Considering the considerable goalscoring prowess associated with those five names, it illustrates what a beast Kane has been during the past 12 months.

More than that, though, only five players have more hat-tricks in their entire career than Kane has managed in 2017.
Only five players in Premier League history have scored more hat-tricks in their entire Premier League career than Harry Kane has in 2017 alone. Madness.

It was a day when Kane also broke Alan Shearer’s record for most Premier League goals in a calendar year and when he surpassed Messi as the highest scorer worldwide in 2017. Breaking records for fun. Scoring goals for fun. The man really is a goalscoring freak.
In this kind of form, it would take a brave man to bet against the Spurs forward clinching the Premier League Golden Boot come May.
