Guillem Balague may be out of a gig as Sky Sports withdraws bid for La Liga broadcast rights

Poor ol' Guillers

Guillem Balague, Graham Hunter, Scott Minto – tell us what’s going to happen to the trio without whom we’d know a whole lot less about La Liga.

Sky Sports have pulled out of the bidding process for the broadcast rights of the Spanish top flight in the UK according to The Telegraph.

BT Sport could be the new home of El Clasico as they look certain to capture the television rights of La Liga to add to the Champions League coverage that they also snagged from under Sky Sports’ noses.

If this does come to fruition then we’d really have to start questioning Sky Sports’ slugline “your home of sport,” as it will be rivals BT Sport who will be broadcasting the Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

But if you’re looking for some Eredivisie, you’re laughing all the way to the bank on Sky number 405.
