Cankle, noun: a fat or swollen ankle whose flesh merges unattractively with that of the calf.
Arsenal and Chile superstar Alexis Sanchez has become the latest resident of Canklesville, a fictional town whose entire population has become inflicted by the cultural phenomenon known as “having a cankle”… cheers, high fructose corn syrup!
However, the Chilean’s canklitis isn’t the result of too much snacking, but rather it’s a symbol of the tireless work he put in during his country’s Copa America triumph.
Sanchez won the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament after Chile scored a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Argentina in Sunday’s final to win their second consecutive Copa America title.
He uploaded a photo of his swollen ankle propped up on a pillow after the game that may cause Arsenal fans some worry ahead of the beginning of the new Premier League season. Although he didn’t give any indication as to the extent of the injury, he did admit “It was worth it!!! Very happy.”
