Gary Neville’s time in Valencia goes from bad to worse after latest loss

Tough start

Robert Redmond

No one ever said it’d be easy.

Gary Neville’s tough start to life in the dugout continued this afternoon.

The new Valencia head coach saw his side succumb to a 2-0 loss away to Real Sociedad, and remains without a league win since taking charge in December.

After last week’s encouraging 2-2 draw with Real Madrid, Valenica would’ve been hopeful of picking up three points against Sociedad prior to kick-off.

David Moyes’ old team were without a win in six games and were just above the relegation zone. However, two second-half Jonathas goals gave Sociedad the points and left Neville waiting at least another week for his first league victory.

Valencia’s tough spell pre-dates Neville, with the club without a league win since November 7th.
