Matteo Darmian will seek nobody’s approval more than that of Gary Neville.
Neville is almost universally regarded as the greatest right back to ever feature for Manchester United and the Red Devils have struggled to replace him since his retirement in 2011.
Louis van Gaal has looked to address that issue by investing €18 million in Matteo Darmian who joined from Torino earlier this week.
And Neville sees more than a little bit of himself in the 25-year-old Italian, tweeting this out early this morning.

If Darmian can come anywhere close to recreating the success that Neville had on the right flank of Old Trafford then he’s going to go down well with United fans.
