A bet’s a bet. And if you bet on a bet and lose, you lose the bet.
Bet.
Leicester City were 5,000/1 to win the Premier League but, let’s face it, we all probably would’ve offered longer odds to anyone.
It wasn’t a thing or an idea or even a dream that was possible this time 12 months ago and, even when Claudio Ranieri’s men came out firing at the start of the season, it didn’t affect many people’s judgement.
So you could forgive Gary Lineker’s confidence back in December. Or lack of confidence in his team.
YES! If Leicester win the @premierleague I'll do the first MOTD of next season in just my undies.

Of course, the rest is history.
Leicester did defy the odds, they did do the impossible and Lineker did lose the bet.
And, my, no-one has forgotten about it and they sure as hell won’t let the Match of the Day presenter forget it either.
The first Match of the Day of the 2016/17 campaign coincides with the start of the new Premier League season on Saturday (August 13) and, as Leicester prepare for a defence of their title, one of the city’s favourite sons better prepare for the defence of his… everything.
Because he’s certainly not going to have much place to hide.
