Is this the the last we’ll see of Bale at Madrid?

It is customary for football players to cap their final home game of the season by thanking the fans and saying goodbye to them for another season. We’ve all seen it, players walking around with the kids and their families, waving and bidding supporters farewell.

Real Madrid is not a club that is currently in a good place, with their defeat to Real Betis on Sunday their twelfth league defeat of a season which has seen Julen Lopetegui, Santiago Solari and now Zinedine Zidane in charge.

Since Zidane’s return to the Santiago Bernabeu, one of the players that has been cast adrift is none other than Gareth Bale. Once one of the first name’s on the team sheet at Madrid, Bale has fallen out of favour in the last season.

According to reports in Spain, Madrid are actively seeking to offload the Welshman to any team willing to pay his wages.

The match on Sunday represented what could well be Bale’s final chance to bid farewell to a group of supporters that have been far keener on booing and whistling him this season as opposed to cheering him.

However, when the time came for Zidane to bring on his final substitute of the match, he chose Lucas Vázquez instead.

Madrid went onto lose 2-0, and when the final whistle blew, Bale was straight down the tunnel, with abuse hurled at him by supporters in what is likely his final every appearance in front of them.
