So Francesco Totti can be forgiven for weighing up the chance to complete a boyhood dream and play at the King Power Stadium and not live with the same regret that Cambiasso and Ronaldinho carry around every day.
But there’s only one captain.
Reports on Friday morning contain news of the Italian media suggesting Francesco Totti is set for the Premier League.
The Roma legend has fallen out with head coach Luciano Spalletti and he was dropped from the squad during last weekend’s defeat of Palermo.
And, at 39, he’s being linked with a move from the origin of the western world to the cultural capital of the east midlands.
Having made his debut 24 years ago with Roma, it would be strange to see Totti don the crest of another club. Especially Lazio’s. But especially Leicester’s.
