Former Manchester City player’s rookie error sees his Twitter blow up

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but Trevor Sinclair does not have the inside track on the situation at Old Trafford.

The ex-Manchester City man began amassing what must have been a record number of interactions on Twitter on Tuesday night.

A couple of tweets were sent from Sinclair’s account which suggested that he had insider knowledge on van Gaal’s future at Manchester United. The Dutch boss’ job at the club is in doubt after a lacklustre second season in charge at the club, and we’re expected to hear confirmation of whether he will stay or be let go from the position this week.

When Sinclair tweeted that van Gaal had been fired, the good people of social media got slightly overexcited and the tweet began appearing on pretty much every football fan’s timeline.

However, Sinclair later revealed that he does not know whether van Gaal will get the axe or not. He followed the tweets up with another explaining that he had left his phone unattended at a Christmas party and some prankster sent them as a prank.
