Former Chelsea man scores with the kind of shot you’d shout at your mate for even trying

He has no right to score from there

Tom Victor

We’ve all got that one mate in five-a-side who shoots from literally anywhere.

Volley dropping onto his wrong foot? He’ll swing at it. Pinned in the corner? Still room to squeeze the ball out. Surrounded by a bunch of opponents with two teammates free? You know what he’s got planned.

If you’re thinking to yourself ‘we’ve got no one like that’, it’s probably you.

It’s infuriating, but often it’ll transpire that the player in question is annoyingly good. You’ll be about to give him an earful only to turn around and see the ball nestling in the corner of the net.

Well, boys and girls, it looks like Juan Cuadrado is the 11-a-side equivalent.

Juventus FC v Udinese Calcio - Serie A

The Chelsea and Colombia winger is currently partway through a three-year loan spell (no, really) with Juventus, for whom he scored one of the best goals of the Champions League last season.

And he’s been at it again, in the same competition.

Juve looked like they would have to settle for a point at best in Lyon, with the score locked at 0-0 and Mario Lemina given his marching orders for two yellow cards just before the hour mark.

But Cuadrado didn’t read the script.

He absolutely lashed the ball home from an angle the more generous among us would call ‘wildly ambitious’.

But hey, if it works, it works.
