FAI play down alleged disturbance at Ireland team hotel involving Roy Keane

The FAI have issued a statement after an incident at the Ireland team hotel on Wednesday evening.

Reports earlier suggested that an Irish team member had been involved in an altercation with a fan who had travelled to the team hotel in Portmarnock.

The FAI statement insists that it was Roy Keane who called the Gardai following an ‘incident involving a member of the public’.

The incident came just hours before the Irish team are due to fly out to Scotland for Friday’s crucial Euro 2016 qualifier in Glasgow.

Last night the FAI issued this two line statement in response to media speculation as to what might have happened.

We feel there is going to be an awful lot more to this story before the day is out.
