The FAI have cleared Bray Wanderers and Waterford of match-fixing allegations from a friendly between the two clubs on Friday, September 8 at the Carlisle Grounds in Bray.
Bray lost the game 5-0, and upon receipt of a complaint, the FAI notified An Garda Síochána that it would launch an investigation into alleged breaches of FAI Rules.
Several Bray players were questioned by members of the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau and had their mobile phones examined but no arrests were made.
The FAI said that there was insufficient evidence to bring any charges against relevant parties.
An FAI statement read:
“The Football Association of Ireland has concluded its investigation into alleged match-fixing surrounding the friendly match between Bray Wanderers FC and Waterford FC on Friday, September 8 at the Carlisle Grounds.
“The investigation, which was conducted in addition with an investigation run by An Garda Siochana, has found that there was insufficient evidence to bring any charges in relation to any breaches of FAI rules.
“The FAI has a zero tolerance policy to match-fixing.”
The investigation followed the 12-month suspension handed out to Athlone Town players Igors Labuts and Dragos Sfrijan for breaching rules relating to manipulated matches and gambling.
