An Everton player has been charged with breaching FA betting rules, it has been confirmed by an FA spokesperson.
As per a statement from the FA, 20-year-old, Liberian forward Martin Sherif has been accused of making 61 bets on football over a 15-month period.
The accusation concerns 61 bets placed on matches between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026.

The news was announced in a post on X from the official FA Spokesperson account.
The statement read: "Martin Sherif of Everton FC has been charged with breaching The FA's betting rules. It's alleged that the player breached FA Rule E1.2 in respect of 61 bets placed on football matches between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026. Martin Sherif has until Monday 17 August to provide a response."
The Liberian forward is yet to make an appearance for the first team, but has been on the bench as an unused substitute.
Sherif has been on Everton's books since youth level, joining in 2019, aged 13.
Born in Liberia, Sherif has Dutch citizenship and has played for their U17s team.
He has had loan spells with Rotherham and Port Vale making 10 appearances for the former and 19 for the latter.
After scoring 24 goals in 53 games for Everton's U18s and 11 in 30 for the U21s, he was promoted to the first team, sitting on the bench on occasion.
