But, whilst Ronald Koeman's steamrolling Toffees might've made it a tough day for Mackem supporters in footballing terms with a 3-0 dismantling of David Moyes' side, Everton never lost their class.
After the game, the club pledged an astounding £200,000 to Bradley Lowery's fight against cancer. The youngster is aiming to raise 700k for treatment in the USA and, thanks to Everton, this was the state of the fundraising early on Tuesday morning.
It was an incredible gesture from the club who, along with their financial backing, have offered love and support to Bradley in his fight.
