England fans have called for Gareth Southgate to step down from his position as England manager.
Although they came into the Euro 2024 final as underdogs against Spain, many felt now was the time for the Three Lions to go one step further than they did in Euro 2020.
Spain took the lead shortly after the restart through Nico Williams but like they have done in so many games in Germany, England levelled thanks to an excellent long-range finish from Cole Palmer.
Ultimately though it would be La Roja who would go on to be crowned champions as Mikel Oyarzabal scored late on with four minutes remaining to break English hearts.
By winning the trophy, Spain have become the first nation to win the competition four times.
Question marks over Southgate's future have dominated the headlines throughout the past six weeks, especially with the concerns over the style of play and fans believe the time is right to call it a day to the eight years in charge.
"Southgate it’s been fun man. Time to hand over the reigns brother," wrote one fan.
A second said: "Southgate deserves to be sacked just for benching Palmer the entire tournament.
"I expect to see Southgate sacked in the morning," added a third.
Another said: Southgate needs to get sacked after this. Easiest route to the final, disgusting performances all the way."
