Clubs facing relegation set for battle to sign Dominic Solanke on loan from Liverpool

Crystal Palace and Huddersfield are set to battle for the signature of Dominic Solanke on a loan deal from Liverpool in the January window

He has not made an appearance for Liverpool this season.

Crystal Palace and Huddersfield Town are both reportedly interested in taking Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan this winter, according to Sky Sports.

Solanke joined Liverpool from Chelsea in May 2017 and made 27 appearances for the Reds last season but is yet to feature at all this term, falling behind Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi in the pecking order at Anfield.

As he seeks to prove his worth in the Premier League, a loan move seems inevitable.

Palace and Huddersfield have both struggled in front of goal this season, with the former having to play Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend – naturally wingers – in central positions due to Christian Benteke suffering from injury.

Huddersfield, meanwhile, have only scored 11 goals this season – the fewest in the Premier League – and need to improve significantly in front of goal if they are to survive in the Premier League for a second consecutive season.

Solanke has only scored one Premier League goal – on the final day of last season against Brighton at Anfield – but both Palace and the Terriers are willing to take the risk on a player who has impressed at international level for England’s youth teams.
