No festive cheer at Old Trafford this Christmas.
Christmas can be the loneliest time of the year for many people, and for players at Manchester United, with no Champions League to look forward to in 2016, it will be especially tough.
The loss to Wolfsburg on Tuesday night meant the club can ‘look forward’ to Europa League action now for the coming months.
Louis van Gaal and his players were slammed for their performance in Germany, and it seems that everyone at Old Trafford has taken the loss so badly, that the club have cancelled a planned Christmas outing this coming Sunday.
According to the Daily Mail, the club’s players have taken the decision to cancel the planned knees up after their poor showing midweek.
It’s believed the decision was taken by Wayne Rooney who felt that the club’s players could not be seen to be celebrating just days after a humiliating exit from Europe’s top club competition.
Newcastle’s Christmas party was cancelled by the clubs officials after their recent run of of form, with the decision taken before last Sunday’s 2-0 win over Liverpool.
