David Moyes not happy with Real Sociedad’s 3-0 win: I expected us to play better

Apparently beggars can be choosers

Look who has changed his tune.

Alright, David, you win one game and suddenly it’s beneath you.

Moyesie wasn’t one bit happy with his first victory in charge of Real Sociedad last night and not even a nice 3-0 win could appease the Scottish perfectionist.

A lovely Carlos Vela hat-trick got the Moyes era underway as the Basque boys ran up a comfortable winning margin against 19th-placed Elche.

The win was a six-pointer for Sociedad who were dangling in relegation danger themselves, planted next to Elche on 10 points but they’ve pushed up the table into 12th after last night’s antics but that doesn’t satisfy the former United boss’ insatiable appetite.

“I am pleased to have not conceded again, but I am not so happy with the performance,” he told reporters afterwards.  “I thought we committed too many errors and I expected us to play better.

“I didn’t think it was easy because Elche caused us problems at the start, but the goals made the difference. We had a special talent in Carlos Vela who obviously made the difference and helped the team a lot tonight.”

At least he’s learning.  We thought it was only a matter of days before he would declare that Athletic Bilbao are at the level Sociedad should be aspiring to.
