Manchester United made history on Sunday night

When Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s Manchester United side beat Tottenham 1-0 on Sunday night, he became the first manager in the club’s history to win their first six games.

Paul Pogba’s commanding performance in the match is symbolic of a rejuvenated United.

The Frenchman has been something of a mercurial figure at Old Trafford, and struggled enormously in the latter days of Jose Mourinho’s time at the club.

With the Portuguese coach now gone though, Pogba looks like the player we saw pull the strings for France during their triumph World Cup in Russia during the summer of 2018.

After the match it took David de Gea six words to sum up the Red Devils’ fresh feel:

“This is the real Manchester United.”

He put in a world-class performance to preserve United’s lead. Some commentators called it the best match of his life. The Spanish goalkeeper made 11 saves in the second half alone.

Speaking to Sky Sports, De Gea said: “We won the game against a top team, we controlled the first half but in the second half they had chances.

“I was feeling very well with the first two saves, it was a great game.

“I don’t even remember some of the saves so I can’t pick a best. The manager brought some happiness, the players are playing well and the team is very strong now.

“This is the real Manchester United.”

United fans were delirious in their reaction.

Another tweeted: “De Gea: ‘This is the real Man Utd’ Love that. Very fortunate second half but I would anticipate the over-excitement from MUFC fans will be because they have their team back.”
