Chris Sutton’s view on whether to sack Claudio Ranieri infuriated Robbie Savage

"The point I was making before Robbie got his knickers in a twist..."

“The point I was making before Robbie got his knickers in a twist.”

Whether you love or hate his punditry, it’s rarely dull when Chris Sutton is on our television screens.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Celtic striker is never shy about voicing his opinion and always seems to find a way to get under the skin of his fellow pundits.

He was at it again on Saturday afternoon.

Sutton was on BT Sport Score alongside Robbie Savage, and the pair were watching Leicester City’s latest defeat. The Premier League champions lost to League One side Millwall in the FA Cup fifth round at the New Den.

The 1-0 defeat, thanks to Shaun Cummings last minute goal, puts Claudio Ranieri under further pressure. Leicester have yet to score a league goal in 2017 and are just a point above the relegation zone.

To make matters worse, they lost Saturday’s game despite Millwall playing the majority of the second half with 10 players after Jake Cooper was sent-off.

Even before that result, Sutton made an argument that Leicester should sack their title winning manager.

Sutton said that when one looks at the situation in an analytical manner, and takes into account the team’s poor form, precarious league position and reports of unrest in the dressing room, then there was an argument to be made that Ranieri should be sacked.

However, Savage wasn’t having any of it. The former Leicester midfielder repeatedly referenced the Foxes’ incredible title victory last season, and suggested that was enough to ensure Ranieri should be immune from losing his job.

“This clown next to me wants him sacked,” Savage said before saying he believes Ranieri will keep the team up.

However, Sutton had a counter argument for each of Savage’s points, and really managed to wind-up his fellow pundit.

For what it’s worth, most who voted in this poll agreed with Savage.
