Chelsea’s incredibly impartial Twitter account was at it again after Cesc Fabregas’ red card

Enda Conway

In this day and age, it’s hard to find reliable news.

We are in what many are calling the “post-facts” age of reporting, where people just dig their heels in and see everything around them as confirmation as their own viewpoint. No one more so than those reporting on world events.

Everyone has an agenda. No matter how impartial you might think a news source is, it’s clear they have a hidden agenda.

That’s why we thank God every morning that there is one Twitter account out there not overcome with passion and emotion.

There is just one team who can remove themselves from the heat of the moment and report honest-to-god facts, without any bias.

We are talking, of course, about the official Chelsea FC Twitter account.

We’ve known for a long time that the Blues’ website is a bastion of impartial journalism, calling things as they are and totally uncoloured by the effects of Jose “let’s develop a siege mentality” Mourinho being your manager twice in the last decade.

Thankfully they have extended this out into their social media presence, as their minute-by-minute reporting of a recent friendly against Liverpool captured one of the game’s most controversial moments when Cesc Fabregas received a straight red card for this challenge.

While it might seem like the Spaniard gets nowhere near the ball and comes down hard on the upper ankle/shin of Liverpool newboy Ragnar Klavan, that’s actually not at all what happened.

We know what the truth is because we can always rely on the Chelsea account for some impartial judgement.

A little harsh, indeed. And it seems that Twitter was in complete agreement over this one.

Thank God for that.
