Carlos Tevez must be rich enough as he turns down insane cash to play in China

Thanks but no thanks

Kevin McGillicuddy

It was a good offer, but not good enough for Carlitos.

Carlos Tevez is nearing the end of his career, but he clearly doesn’t want to earn that Chinese golden handshake just yet.

The Boca Juniors star is still just 32, and that is perhaps what has interested Sven Goran Eriksson to try and tempt him to play with his club Shanghai SIPG.

Various reports are suggesting that Tevez was to be offered in the region of €25million for a single year of flinging his body around in China.

However Tevez found the willpower – that we would lack in the same situation – to reject the deal and is understood to have committed his future to his boyhood club and life at La Bombonera.

Just last week Wayne Rooney was linked with a move to the same club, while 2016 has already seen several high-profile players commit their futures to life in the China for mega bucks deals including Jackson Martinez, Alex Teixeira and Ramires.

But for the moment at least, Tevez will not be joining the ranks of his fellow South Americans in China.
