We can’t get bored of watching Paris Saint-Germain’s amazing counter-attacking goal

This is what all that money gets you.

Paris Saint-Germain aren’t just good, they’re freakishly good – and getting better. Completing one of the most astonishing one-two punches in transfer history in the summer with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar has transformed them from a good side to a great side.

The attacking trident of Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani has been particularly devastating, with 54 goals between them already this season. And, while manager Unai Emery dropped Cavani for the 6-1 demolition of Rennes in the Coupe de France on Sunday, the sheer quality he has at his disposal was brought into sharp focus by a stunning counter-attacking goal that has to go down as one of the finest in recent memory.

Neymar, Mbappe and Angel Di Maria all bagged braces as the runaway Ligue 1 leaders mercilessly picked apart their opponents, with Neymar’s second – and PSG’s fourth – easily being the pick of the bunch.

From a Rennes corner, PSG calmly play their way out of their own penalty area, with Di Maria playing it to Marco Verratti. The Italian then releases Neymar down the left flank, from which the Brazilian screamed up the pitch at breakneck speed. Cutting inside, Neymar finds an onrushing Di Maria with a cute reverse pass. The Argentine finds Mbappe with a first-time cut-back, who lays it on for Neymar to fire into the top-corner.

What a goal. We can’t stop watching. If you appreciate good, free-flowing attacking football, you will marvel at the speed at which PSG break. Di Maria flying up the pitch to run beyond Neymar is particularly impressive, while Mbappe’s composure to nonchalantly knock the ball back to the Brazilian for the killer blow also has to be acknowledged.

PSG have scored some wonderful goals this season, but this one is arguably the best of the entire collection. Watch it below.
