It’s the end of the Joe Hart era at Manchester City

Burnley have made a significant upgrade to their levels of ‘pashun’ and pride with the signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart today.

The Lancashire club took the decision to sign the former England number one after injuries to Tom Heaton and Nick Pope left them in desperate need for a player capable of singing the God Save The Queen louder than anyone else.

Hart makes the permanent move to Turf Moor after loan spells at both Torino and West Ham in recent seasons. During both loan spells Hart failed to impressed, which subsequently led to the loss of his England place.

The 31-year-old, who joins Burnley for £3.5 million on a two-year deal, joined Manchester City in 2006 having started his career at Shrewsbury.

He spent 12 seasons at Manchester City, most of which were spent as the first choice goalkeeper. However, a series of high-profile errors prior to the arrival of Pep Guardiola meant that his place at the club has been perilous in recent years.

Hart will likely start the season as Burnley’s first choice goalkeeper, though it remains to be seen whether his goalkeeping skills will be able to match his chest-beating skills at his new club.
