Burnley fans rejoice as Jeff Hendrick’s deadline day move is confirmed

Great move

Darragh Murphy

Jeff Hendrick can look forward to some Premier League football and will be hoping that it lasts beyond next May.

Burnley have broken their transfer record to bring the Republic of Ireland international into their set-up as they look to avoid immediate relegation to the Championship.

The club did not disclose the fee but it is believed to be in the region of £10.5m (€12.3m) as he joins Sean Dyche’s side from Derby County.

Hendrick was the subject of interest for a number of clubs after impressing during Ireland’s European Championships in the summer but Burnley won out in the pursuit of the midfielder’s signature.

The Dubliner joined Derby in 2010 from schoolboy side St Kevin’s Boys, and went on to score 26 times in 214 appearances for the Championship club.

And it didn’t take long for supporters of Hendrick’s new club to welcome him with open arms.
