Brendan Rodgers’ return to management could be at a club close to his heart

Kevin McGillicuddy

Brendan Rodgers is a man who we suspect, does not do boredom well.

The former Liverpool boss has been out of work since being sacked in October, making do with a brief tour of the punditry circuit since the start of the New Year.

However with a wedding to pay for, and the nagging sense that he does not want to become the next David Moyes, or the current David Moyes, the Antrim native is actively seeking a new role.

According to the South Wales Evening Post, the Irishman is being linked with a summertime move back to Swansea.

Since Gary Monk was dumped mid-season the club has been bobbing around rather listlessly in the Premier League, with current manager Francesco Guidolin set to leave in the summer.

The 60-year-old is understood to have major issues speaking to his players due to his lack of English, and while Rodgers did not want a mid-season return to management, the newspaper understands that if he is contacted; he will be interested in taking the role this summer.

It would show great character if he could return to his former club, and if he does take up the offer, it would mean Jurgen Klopp could be faced with two ex-Liverpool bosses next season in Rodgers and Rafa Benitez.

The 43-year-old left the Swans in 2012 to take up the role at Liverpool, and is still seen as a popular figure at the club
