Whoever was in charge of running Blackpool FC’s commercial Twitter account must have got some telling off this morning.
Blackpool FC’s commercial Twitter account has been deleted after it landed itself in hot water over a conversation with a fan.
Whoever was controlling the account at the time, thought it was appropriate to refer to one of the club’s supporters as “typical areshole wankers”.
The account then engaged in a back-and-forth with another fan who questioned the club’s professionalism following the comment. They attempted to justify the insult, by using the old “eye for an eye” defence.
They continued to dig themselves into a hole by arguing those who had become involved in the online argument were not true fans of the football club. A few hours later, the account was deleted.
They could give UFC president Dana White a run for his money as least professional sporting Twitter account if they keep this up.
