Well, we made it.
An underdog-enhanced Euro 2016 did a noble job of filling in the gap, pre-season has been more entertaining than ever, and a certain grime artist made an otherwise mind-numbingly tedious transfer saga worth the wait.
But man are we happy the Premier League is back.
How will the most unfancied Champions of England in history get on without N’Golo Kanté and possibly Riyad Mahrez? Can Antonio Conte turn Chelsea back into contenders, and will Pep and Jose unknowingly book tables next to one another in a Manchester pizza restaurant? Anything could happen.
The return of the football also means the return of Match of the Day – the first episode of which is expected to be hosted by a mostly naked Gary Lineker – and the BBC have announced that they’ll be adding another top tier-centric show to their programming.
The always-excellent Gabby Logan has been handed presenting duties on the new show, which will be broadcast from Manchester’s National Football Museum.
The broadcaster says the Premier League Show will feature ‘in-depth interviews with players’, and seemingly managers too, as Jurgen Klopp will meet Gary Lineker in the inaugural episode on Thursday August 25.
The BBC also revealed that increasingly popular pundit Jermaine Jenas is being bumped up a presenting role, as he’ll head up The Friday Football Social alongside Darren Fletcher.
FOOTBALL EVERYONE. FOOTBALL IS BACK.
